The Outstanding New Undergraduate Advisor Award was established by the Academic Advising Council (AAC) to recognize an academic advisor, new to the profession, who provides excellent academic advising and exhibits leadership skills in the profession. The award was established to recognize outstanding academic advising and contributions to the profession while helping students to define and achieve their academic goals. Examples of activities to be considered include, but are not limited to, advising on course selection, research, helping students with their choice of major/minor, long-term career goals and personal development.
Any individual serving 50 percent or more time as an undergraduate academic advisor and employed as such for three (3) or fewer years is eligible to apply. Previous Outstanding New Undergraduate Advisor Award winners are ineligible.
Award recipients are acknowledged at Spring Advisor Day and will receive a commemorative plaque.

The selection committee shall be approved by the Academic Advising Council (AAC). The selection committee will be representative of campus, with preference given to past award winners. Selection committee members cannot write a letter of support for applicants. An ex officio chair will be selected by AAC to facilitate the selection process.
